The Nebraska driver’s license of any person serving on active duty, other than for training purposes, outside the State of Nebraska as a member of the United States Armed Forces, or of the spouse or dependents of such person, shall remain valid during such person’s period of active duty and for a period of sixty days following such person’s date of separation.
When the Department has been notified of the military status, it is indicated on the record by the word “Military” directly below the status area.
Conviction/Administrative Adjudications
This section lists all traffic tickets for which there has been a conviction. Each entry includes type of ticket, date of issue, date of judgment, points assessed, type of court, court location and if any restrictive action has been taken against the individual’s driving privilege the type and amount of time is listed. This heading only appears when there is at least one conviction on the record.
Also included in this section may be a Departmental administrative determination that a commercial driver was guilty of operating a commercial motor vehicle with an alcohol content of .04 or more.
If any restrictive action against an individual’s privilege to drive has been taken by the Department it would be listed in this section. The information listed would include the type, effective date and when eligible to be reinstated. If indefinite is listed as the eligibility date, this indicates that as soon as all reinstatement requirements are met the individual would be reinstated. This heading only appears when there is at least one Administrative Withdrawal on record.
If “Abey” or “Held in Abeyance” appears as part of an entry, the restrictive action is temporarily dormant pending a court finding.
Any involvement in a reportable accident will appear for statistical purposes only and does not indicate a determination of fault. This heading only appears when there is at least one accident on record.
When convicted of a violation, points shall be assessed against the driving record as of the date of the violation. These points will no longer count two years from the date of violation but will remain on the record for five years.
When calculating the number of points currently assessed, start with zero and add all the points from each conviction during the past two years. A total of 12 points assessed in any two-year period will result in a license revocation.
If an individual who has less than 12 points assessed against his/her driving record completes a Driver Improvement Course for a two-point credit, it will appear on the record as “Driver Improvement Credit” with the date of completion. When manually calculating points, subtract from the total if an entry for a Driver Improvement Credit appears.
All records obtained are five-year records unless the word “Complete” appears in the top left-hand corner.
