MINITRUCK

§60-121.01

A Minitruck is defined as a foreign-manufactured import vehicle or domestic-manufactured vehicle which:

1. is powered by an internal combustion engine with a piston or rotor displacement of one thousand cubic centimeters or less,
2. is sixty-seven (67) inches or less in width,
3. has a dry weight of four thousand two hundred (4,200) pounds or less,
4. travels on four (4) or more tires,
5. has a top speed of approximately fifty-five (55) miles per hour,
6. is equipped with a bed or compartment for hauling,
7. has an enclosed passenger cab,
8. is equipped with:
• headlights;
• tailights;
• turnsignals;
• windshield wipers;
• a rearview mirror;
• an occupant protection system;
9. has a four-speed, five-speed, or automatic transmission.

Application for Certificate of Title is made to the County Treasurer in the county where you reside and must be obtained within thirty (30) days of purchase of the vehicle.

Purchased Prior to January 1, 2011

To obtain a Certificate of Title for a minitruck purchased prior to January 1, 2011, one of the following documents must be presented to the the County Treasurer:

1. A Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO) OR Bill of Sale OR Manufacturer's or Importer's Certificate;
AND
2. An Affidavit for Vertification of Ownership of an ATV, Minibike, UTV or Minitruck completed by the owner affirming ownership;
OR

One of the following:

• Certificate of Title – properly assigned;
• Vehicle's registration and a notarized Bill of Sale if previous state was not a title issuing state;
• Vehicle's registered by the U.S. Military: U.S.: Military Registration Document;
• Vehicle's sold by the U.S. Government: U.S. Department of State Certificate of Title;
• Court Order.
  AND

All of the following documents:

• an Application for Certificate of Title*;
• $10.00 titling fee;
• a Vehicle Inspection if required proof of ownership is anything other than a Nebraska Certificate of Title. The exception to this is a Vehicle Inspection is required if your proof of ownership is a Nebraska Salvage title and you are making application for Previously Salvaged title.

Purchased On or After January 1, 2011

To obtain a Certificate of Title for a minitruck purchased on or after January 1, 2011, one of the following documents must be presented to the the County Treasurer:

1. A Manufacturer's or Importer's Certificate;
AND
2. An Affidavit for Vertification of Ownership of an ATV, Minibike, UTV or Minitruck completed by the owner affirming ownership;
OR

One of the following:

• Certificate of Title – properly assigned;
• Vehicle's last registration and a notarized Bill of Sale if previous state was not a title issuing state;
• Vehicle's registered by the U.S. Military: U.S.: Military Registration Document;
• Vehicle's sold by the U.S. Government: U.S. Department of State Certificate of Title;
• Court Order.
  AND

All of the following documents:

• an Application for Certificate of Title*;
• $10.00 titling fee;
• a Vehicle Inspection if required proof of ownership is anything other than a Nebraska Certificate of Title. The exception to this is a Vehicle Inspection is required if your proof of ownership is a Nebraska Salvage title and you are making application for Previously Salvaged title.

If the model year cannot be determined, the title will be issued with the model year indicated as the year the application for title is presented.

If the minitruck does not have a manufacturer's identification number, you will need to submit a properly completed Assigned ID Number Application to the Department of Motor Vehicles so that an State assigned identification number can be issued prior to application for title.
