Mini-grant applications are available from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety for the items listed below. The mini-grants are applications, which must be approved by the NOHS prior to the applicant making any expenditure. The mini-grants are typically for the purchase of a specific item, or a short term (not longer than 30 days) activity. The following explains the mini-grants available and provides the option to download each specific mini-grant application form. After downloading and completing the mini-grant application form it may be mailed or faxed to the NOHS for approval.
Prior to completing a mini-grant contract every state, county, community, law enforcement agency, organization, etc. eligible to apply and receive federal funding must read and comply with the guidelines of the Policies, Procedures, and Grant Contract Application document.

Mini-Grant Contract Application and Awards must be submitted for approval a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of the activity.
NOHS also has available a "Special Traffic Safety Equipment Mini-Grant Contract Application." Agencies are required to submit a letter to NOHS requesting the "special" equipment.
Funding assistance for PBTs is available to any law enforcement agency in the State. The units are funded 100% by the NOHS with a limit of six (6) units per agency
annually.

Funding assistance for selective overtime enforcement is available to law enforcement agencies in the priority counties (see below). The selective overtime activity may be conducted in one of three emphasis areas: Speed, Alcohol or General Traffic. Overtime salaries and mileage are eligible for reimbursement. Applications must be submitted for approval a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of activity.

Funding assistance for “underage” alcohol related selective overtime enforcement is available to law enforcement agencies. Eligible activities funding assistance may include: Compliance Checks, Adult Procurement Initiatives, Adult Education/Program Presentations, Selective Overtime Enforcement, and Party Patrols. Funding assistance for projects that educate the public about traffic safety issues is available to agencies in the priority counties (see below). Activities should focus on one of emphasis areas: Alcohol, Speed, Youth, and Occupant Protection. Other traffic safety related areas may be considered, based upon supporting crash data.

Funding assistance for traffic safety professionals to attend traffic safety training and/or workshops is available to agencies in the priority counties (see below). The NOHS may provide funding assistance for transportation, lodging and registration fees. All other costs associated with the training/workshop are the responsibility of the applicant.
